Birds of prey and owls are unlike most other animals kept in captivity. Consequently, keeping and flying raptors requires an above average level of knowledge to safeguard their welfare and to ensure their longevity.
This quiz will help you establish your baseline of understanding. Competent raptor keepers should easily achieve 100%, but don’t worry if you get a few wrong – we don’t share your results with anyone!
If you feel that you could do with more knowledge and understanding, then our Raptor Awards Combined Course online quizzes can be undertaken from the comfort of your home, this will give you all the required theoretical knowledge for keeping, training and flying a bird of prey, giving you the opportunity to gain your theory only certificate. Please note this does not fully certify you as this requires completion of the course alongside one of our assessors to give you the practical skills you need. Find our assessors map below!

If you are already a professional falconer and subject to licensing under The Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (England) Regulations 2018, then this free quiz can help you meet your obligations to undertake an annual training needs analysis of all people responsible for the care of your birds of prey.
Contact one of our approved assessors to organise an assessment day to gain your certificate, the more certificate holders the better! This is not a judgement of your skills, it is purely for showing you meet the standards outlined by the Raptor Awards.
